Actors' NET Taking Registrations for 2012 Summer Stars Program
July 9 through the weekend of Aug. 3, Actors' NET once again runs its acclaimed four-week-long Summer Stars training program - the Summer Stars -- for youngsters ages 7 through 12, and teens ages 13 through 17. Entering its fabulous 14th year of operation, Summer Stars is a unique program - instructing students in the basics in acting, singing and dance, while gearing the studies specifically to the proficiency level of each student. At the end of the course, students perform in full-length musical shows custom-written for the course, ensuring each student is performing material suitable to their level of talent. And because the shows are custom-tailored, no one is a mere "spear carrier." All have their moments to shine, to be a star.
NET Cofounder, General Manager and Playwright in Residence Joe Doyle once again helms the program, writing the shows and supervising his professional staff, including Choreographer/Dance Instructor Dani Tucci-Juraga and Tess Ammerman (a former Summer Star herself, who has also studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art), who heads the youth and teen training courses.
Staff assistants slated to return include Sarah Webster and Brenna Bajor.
Due to popular demand, this summer's youth program returns to its original format: The youngsters and the teens will perform separate full length musicals. The kids will take to the stage in Fact versus Fiction: Professsor Linmer (a.k.a. Merlin the Magician) is at it again -- casting a spell to bring literary characters to life. Everyone from Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn to Annie Sullivan from "The Miracle Worker" and other historical characters, such as Pocahontas, young Eleanor Roosevelt and Harriet Tubman meet for hilarity as egos clash. Adding to the dilemma: Some of the characters brought back are villains, who try to turn the literary heroes to the dark side! This musical combines wacky comedy with dramatic moments as well. Guaranteed to be educational and fun!
For the teens, it's All's Well -- Or Maybe Not - a musical comedy about "young love." When two popular couples split up, their friends rally to try and bring them back together (except for those who wanted the break-ups to happen in the first place!) Our storyline advances through good old rock 'n roll songs -- blasts from the '50s right through a few from modern times - with the emphasis on the music their parents and grandparents know and love.
Classes for the youngsters are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Teen classes are Monday through Friday from 1:30 - 5:30 p.m. Instruction takes place at The Heritage Center, 635 N. Delmorr Avenue, Morrisville, PA 19067.
Cost of the program is $450 for the entire program -- $425 for "early bird" registration, if signing up and making your fifty percent deposit before April 30, 2011. Final enrollment deadline is May 31.
SPACE IS LIMITED. ENROLL YOUR STUDENT ASAP. LET YOUR CHILD EXPERIENCE THE SMALL THEATRE WITH A BIG HEART!
